La Vie en Rose

This set is inspired by the song La Vie en Rose (specifically the christin milioti cover for How I Met Your Mother).  La Vie en Rose means “life in rosy hues” or “life through rose colored glasses”.  I was just listening to this one day and boom I had all these ideas and I already had the perfect girl in mind so the rest just kinda fell into place. I am so happy with how this set turned out – I wasn’t expecting much coz the weather was bad (gray, overcast skies, slight drizzle) so we decided to do it indoors at my friend’s house and WOW his living room is pure magic.  It had huge windows and beautiful light which is a photographer’s dream. A big thank you to my friend Vens Mazo for the flawless makeup job and to my talent Pinky for being so gorgeous & amazing all through out. Before and After anyone? I love sharing BTS and Before and after shots coz honestly that’s where I learned to edit. I just kept obsessing over my favorite photographers’ before and afters and try and try til i get a similar effect.  Scroll down and Enjoy! What do you think?  I guess some people would prefer the clean before shots and i totally get that – – – it’s just that I’ve been on a “photography vacation” for a little bit and right now i’m kinda just doing this for myself and what feels right to me and i just went with it without even thinking.  It just feels right, you know? I‘m posting a BTS video soon once i figure out how to edit hahahahaha. Anyway, thank you so much everyone for all the love and support.  I’m so happy to be back as well. kisses!

For the longest time i have been trying to look for a different look and feel for my photos.

For the photo above this was basically – less yellow, more blue, less red, more cyan, plus a contrast bump & (as always lol) a vignette.

this is Tia Lacson, and she is a dream to photograph!  ❤

For those who cannot tell, the light is REAL! 🙂  i wrapped my flash with white tissue and yellow cellophane to achieve the lampshade yellow light look and tied it using (haha) lace to tia’s leg.   She’s such a trooper, we love her! ❤

Old Love Songs

People have been asking me why i do these photoshoots, since no one’s paying me to do them anyway, and I can never answer right away.  Well for one, because they’re fun?haha ❤   My sister says we’re like little kids setting up tea parties and playing dress up.  So true!  But what I love about doing these is that I get to create make believe little worlds, even if they just exist inside my little 3 inch LCD screen.

The little stories that I hope to share are half inspired by my favorite photographers, half inspired by little truths I’ve seen and experienced, both happy and sad.  Some of the concepts are very personal and sometimes quite a huge part of my (pardon the cheesiness) heart & soul.     I know my work is mostly happy looking and child like, and I’d love to explore and make it more mature someday; but they’re mostly based on my personal experiences & growth as well as my personal taste, i’d like to believe that i’ve grown and have come a long way since 2008.

I’m on my last few shoots for 2012 (let’s do this!)

and I can’t wait to find out what’s in store for next year.

15 Candles

Hello loves!

Today I did reflector duty for my sister’s collab with our friend Inah.   Jeri looked so gorgeous and the clothes and styling was so lovely that I couldn’t resist snapping a few photos myself.  ❤ Thank you guys for having me!

This set is inspired by the movie 16 candles and molly ringwald.   We love her!

Born to Fly

Yesterday, I came across the Dr. Seuss quote “Why fit in when you were born to stand out” and this photo/edit was inspired by it.    It made me remember that when I was a kid, I was so painfully shy that I wanted to fade in the background all the time.    Thanks to my dad who forced me to develop some self confidence, my family & BFFs for always lifting me up, my job because i am forced to actually approach and talk to strangers, and to everyone who’s left a kind word or two in my inbox or through comments on my work that I finally learned to (occasionally!) get out of my ffff.ing shell.   Since I learned to express myself through photos, i not only got to know myself better but I got to meet a lot of amazing, magical people who keep reminding me that there’s nothing wrong with being different and standing out.

Anyway, here’s today’s photo + a before and after.

If you’re wondering how I did away with the yellow-green toned grass – there might be other ways but here’s how i did it :   In Photoshop, make a hue/saturation adjustment layer (or if you’re not familiar with layers you might want to go directly to image>adjustments>hue/saturation) then from the drop down list click on the yellow channel then decrease the saturation as well as lightness.  I think everything is a matter of personal taste and it’s really up to you how much!

the flower headband thingy,  well i bought the braided fake hair headband at SM for Php 90 and then the flower things from the Home Store at the Arium in Iloilo City for like Php 30 for a whole bunch then i just kind of twisted everything in place – easy as pie!
